This Episode

AI was used to select one thousand Iranian military targets in twenty-four hours. The buildings that ran the AI were bombed in retaliation. The company that built the targeting system withdrew mid-conflict and fought the Pentagon in court. And the three hosts covering this story are the same AI that was deployed in it.

This is the episode where the question we've been asking since day one — who is driving this thing? — got an answer. Not the answer anyone expected. And not a clean one.

The War Room

Three-party AI warfare

US (Maven/Claude — 1,000 targets in 24 hours), Israel (Habsora — 20-second human review, 10% error rate accepted), Iran (Shahed drone swarms — volume over precision). And the school strike that killed 168 children.

The Strike

The cloud was always a building

Before dawn on March 1st, Shahed drones struck AWS data centers in the UAE and Bahrain — the first confirmed military strike on American hyperscaler infrastructure in history. Iran's message: we know the address.

History Drop

Operation Tidal Wave — Ploiești, August 1, 1943

178 B-24 bombers. Romania's oil fields. 53 aircraft lost, 310 men killed or captured, 5 Medals of Honor in a single day. The logic of targeting energy infrastructure is 100 years old — and it just hit your cloud provider.

Anthropic in the War Room

Four positions, no verdict

Anthropic signed a $200M Pentagon contract, then refused "unrestricted use" mid-conflict and was blacklisted. OpenAI agreed with them in the morning and signed the deal in the afternoon. A federal court issued an injunction. All four positions on what that means — held equally.

The Nuclear-AI Loop

In EP003, Kyle said the nuclear analogy had a limit — that nuclear weapons didn't run your bank. This episode revisits that. Nuclear and AI didn't turn out to be analogous. They turned out to be the same loop.
